A bit about Solve for Happy
Before we begin, here’s a little intro to Solve for Happy by Mo Gawdat.
“This book is my attempt to fulfill the task assigned to me by my happiness idol, my wonderful son, Ali My hope is that by sharing his message—his peaceful way of living—I may be able to honor his memory and continue his legacy. I tried to imagine the positive impact spreading this message could create, and I realized that maybe it is not for nothing that I have a high-profile job with global reach.”

Live Audience Q+A with Mo Gawdat | Solve for Happy
We were delighted to have Mo Gawdat on a live video link from Dubai for our February 2022 meetup! We had members tuning in virtually around the world and in-person at our London meetups at X+Y Whitechapel and X+Y Chiswick. We also had a meetup going on at Framework in Bristol.
In this first clip from the evening, Ben Saul-Garner asks Mo for the espresso snapshot of his Happiness Formula…
In this next clip, Ben SG asks Mo how his work in Solve for Happy could help to solve the world’s problems. Here’s what he had to say…
On a similar theme, Mo is asked by one of our RBC members, how would the world change if more people lived by his advice?
Finally, who do you think Mo’s favourite recent nonfiction author is? Find out below!
Introducing our Spread Happy Book Drop!
Mo Gawdat has a mission to spark a movement of happiness –One Billion Happy – and we decided we could help out as a club by taking part in a book drop to Spread Happy!
Mo’s publisher Bluebird Publishing helped us out by supplying us with 60 copies of Solve for Happy.
We put tags on all of the books so we could track their journeys. Then we asked Rebel Book Club members from our London meetups to take a book and leave it somewhere for a stranger to find.
“To help one billion people become happier, a movement One Billion Happy, that I ask you to join so that together we can create a small-scale global pandemic of Ali-style joy.” - Mo's Mission
We hope over time they will spread some happy across the city and we’ll see them pop up on social media via our hashtag #RebelBookDrop! Here are a couple of examples of books that are already in the wild making people’s day…
